What is Civil Engineering?

Civil Engineering is one of the oldest and most widely recognized engineering disciplines. Civil engineers plan, construct, and maintain infrastructures. Some of these structures include roads, tunnels, airports, railroads, buildings, bridges, and dams. Civil engineers are team players that work with many other professionals such as other engineers, technicians, public officials, social scientists, geologists, biologists, and chemists.

Graduates will have a proficiency in the following areas of civil engineering: structural engineering, transportation engineering, geotechnical engineering, and water resources/environmental engineering.
